Track 3 - Lockdown

Each Track project is co-designed between the young people and their professional music mentors. This Track EP was carried out online during lockdown in 2020. The funding for this project was provided by the Youth Music Initiative and Chance to Succeed (Scottish Children’s Lottery).

I am Pagan – PJ CreepyDoll

PJ, from Paisley, Glasgow, is a musician who, in her own words, is genre-less (she takes from all genres) but ask her and she will say Punk MC for the Label. Her new single, I am Pagan, explores her pagan faith. The song is a party song, yet poetic; keeping an industrial metal vibe about not caring what anyone thinks of you. After starting to write music in 2007, PJ’s main song-making process influences are Marilyn Manson and Black Veil Brides. The influences in her latest song have a twist of Dr Who. When PJ isn’t writing music, she is constantly connected and involved in music: as she says, “I know my art”.

Nuke Dukem – Jack Broadley

Jack, from Thornliebank, Glasgow, is a musician who is usually scrounging around making a band and playing at the Carlton Studio. Jack is no stranger to Track, having been part of the programme in different roles since 2017.  His involvement has made him more confident as a musician. Jack’s song, Nuke Dukem (Death by Millions,) is taken from an idea in the anime film Bearfoot Gen, where a bombing on Hiroshima mountain sees two kids survive. Jack was inspired because there are nuclear weapons stored close to Glasgow that you can drive to with ease. Henry Rollins is a big influence on Jack’s musical style and demeanour.

Green Milk – Jade Kilkenny

Jade, from Glasgow, is new to song-writing with no experience in the music industry. However, she wanted to get her experience from living in care across in music as there are many other forms – such as art, poems, blogs and many other things – that express the good and bad points about living in care. In Jade’s single Green Milk she expresses that it’s the little things you notice when you are in care. An influence in making the song for Jade has been a Taylor Swift mix and Nickelback.
